The Better Business Bureau of the Mahoning Valley celebrated the region's top businesses and community leaders Thursday evening during its annual Torch Awards ceremony. The event, held at a local venue, recognized organizations and individuals who demonstrated a strong commitment to ethical practices, customer service, and community involvement over the past year.
Award recipients were selected based on their adherence to BBB standards, including transparency in advertising, honest dealings with customers, and a track record of resolving complaints. Several categories were presented, highlighting achievements in areas such as marketplace trust, leadership, and charitable contributions.
Among the honorees were small family-owned shops, mid-sized service providers, and nonprofit groups. Each recipient was praised for going beyond standard business operations to positively impact the Mahoning Valley. One award went to a local manufacturer that has invested heavily in workforce training and sustainable production methods. Another recognized a healthcare provider that expanded access to low-cost services for underserved communities.
The ceremony also featured remarks from BBB officials, who stressed the importance of trust in the local economy. "When businesses operate with integrity, it lifts everyone," one speaker said. "These honorees show that doing the right thing is also good for the bottom line."
The event concluded with a networking reception, allowing attendees to connect and share ideas for future collaboration. The BBB noted that the Torch Awards serve as a reminder of the region's strong entrepreneurial spirit and the value of maintaining high ethical standards in all business dealings.
