Focused Behavior Solutions, an applied behavior analysis therapy provider based in Walla Walla, Washington, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, pointing to delayed insurance reimbursements as the main driver of its financial collapse.
The company delivers ABA therapy to children and families, a service that depends heavily on steady cash flow from insurers and state programs. According to court filings, those payments often arrived months late, leaving the provider unable to cover payroll, rent, and other operating costs while still meeting patient needs.
Chapter 11 protection allows the business to reorganize its debts under court supervision rather than shut down immediately. Executives said the goal is to keep serving clients while restructuring obligations and negotiating with creditors.
The case reflects a broader strain across behavioral health providers, many of which report that slow claims processing and shifting reimbursement rules have squeezed smaller operators. For families relying on ABA services, the outcome could affect continuity of care if the restructuring leads to clinic closures or reduced staffing.
A hearing on the case is expected in the coming weeks.
