I live in Boston: Popular tourist spots to see and skip

After fourteen years of calling this historic city home, I've refined a perfect list for visitors seeking an authentic Boston experience. My top recommendations begin with the Museum of Fine Arts, a world-class institution with collections spanning centuries. Next, immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the Boston Public Market, a year-round hub for local food and artisans. For a peaceful retreat, the Arnold Arboretum offers stunning, serene landscapes across its 281 acres.

No trip is complete without walking the Freedom Trail to understand America's origins, but do it early to avoid crowds. Finally, explore the North End, Boston's vibrant Italian neighborhood, for incredible pastries and espresso.

However, I suggest skipping two famous stops. Faneuil Hall Marketplace, while historic, has devolved into a crowded chain-store tourist trap. Similarly, the often-cramped and underwhelming interior of the USS Constitution isn't worth the long wait when the ship's exterior view from the pier is just as impressive. Focus on the city's rich culture and hidden gems instead for a truly memorable visit.
