The fifth annual Black Business Matters Expo took place on August 14 at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, marking a significant milestone with the introduction of the AFRO Power Pitch competition. This new initiative aimed to empower entrepreneurs by providing them with a platform to showcase their innovative business ideas.
Kendrick Tilghman, a professional speaker and DJ, emerged victorious in the inaugural competition, impressing judges and attendees alike with his compelling pitch. The event attracted a diverse group of entrepreneurs and business leaders, fostering an environment of collaboration and support. Participants had the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and gain valuable insights into the challenges and successes of running a business.
The expo not only celebrated Black entrepreneurship but also aimed to inspire the next generation of business leaders. The introduction of the Power Pitch competition is expected to become a staple of the event, further enhancing its mission to uplift and empower the Black business community.
