The Anxiety of Tracking: A Parent's Journey

The Anxiety of Tracking: A Parent's Journey

I lost sleep, pulling an all-nighter so that I could track my son's movements on a popular tracking app. As he prepared to leave for college, my worries escalated, leading me to obsessively monitor his every move. The app provided a false sense of security, allowing me to know exactly where he was at all times. However, this constant vigilance only heightened my anxiety rather than alleviating it.

I found myself checking the app repeatedly, feeling a rush of panic if I noticed he wasn't where I expected him to be. My mind raced with thoughts of what could be happening, and I became increasingly restless. Eventually, my son noticed my behavior and asked me to stop using the app. It was a pivotal moment for both of us. When I finally took his request to heart, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. Letting go of my obsessive tracking allowed me to regain some peace of mind, fostering trust in our relationship as he navigated this new chapter of his life.
