Tom Watson to lead Cherokee Federal as president

Cherokee Federal, the federal contracting division of Cherokee Nation Businesses, announced that longtime industry executive Tom Watson has been named president, effective Oct. 1.

Watson brings decades of experience in government services and defense contracting to the role. He most recently served as chief operating officer at a major federal services provider, where he oversaw operations across multiple agencies and helped steer the company through a period of steady growth. His background includes leadership positions in program management, business development, and strategic planning.

In his new position, Watson will be responsible for guiding Cherokee Federal's overall strategy and expanding its footprint in the federal marketplace. The company supports a range of government clients in areas such as national security, health, and information technology.

Cherokee Nation Businesses leaders said Watson's track record made him the right choice to lead the division into its next phase. They pointed to his ability to manage large, complex contracts and his familiarity with the priorities of federal agencies.

Watson said he looks forward to working with the Cherokee Federal team and building on the organization's reputation for reliable service. He takes over at a time when demand for federal contracting continues to shift, with agencies placing greater emphasis on efficiency and specialized expertise.
