Candice Garcia of Candice's Creations and Brandi Bodine of Stage Stop, Mt. Graham Market and 3-Way were honored as the 2026 Small Businesswomen of the Year for Graham and Greenlee counties. The recognition came during an annual celebration held at Eastern Arizona College, where community members gathered to spotlight the entrepreneurs who keep local commerce alive in rural southeastern Arizona.
The event also celebrated eight Graham County finalist entries, representing a range of businesses from across the region. Organizers said the finalists reflect the diversity of local enterprise, from retail shops to service providers, each contributing to the economic fabric of small towns where opportunity often depends on people willing to take a risk.
Garcia and Bodine were chosen for more than their commercial success. Both were cited for the role their businesses play in strengthening the communities around them, creating jobs, supporting neighbors and helping keep money and talent circulating locally. In rural counties where big-box chains are far away, independent owners often fill gaps that would otherwise go unserved.
The ceremony at Eastern Arizona College drew business leaders, family members and local officials who praised the honorees for their persistence and community spirit. Organizers noted that the annual award has become a way to encourage other aspiring entrepreneurs to pursue their own ventures.
The recognition highlights a broader push to support small business growth in Arizona's rural communities, where local owners are increasingly seen as anchors of stability and pride.
